Agartala, 28th October 2024:   A shocking incident took place with an engineer named Vishal Kumar from Bihar, who was assaulted and robbed shortly after arriving in Agartala for survey work with a private telecom company. Kumar, who is now receiving treatment at GB Hospital, described a horrifying sequence of events to authorities.

According to Kumar, he arrived by train on Sunday and took a reserved auto-rickshaw from Agartala railway station to Usha Bazar. The driver, however, diverted the route to Arundhati Nagar, where he offered Kumar tea allegedly laced with a sedative. After consuming the tea, Kumar reportedly began to feel disoriented.

He recounted that the driver, joined by a young accomplice, drove him to a nearby forest where three more men awaited them. The group allegedly assaulted Kumar with rods and sticks, robbing him of his mobile phone, cash, and even his clothes. The attackers then transported him to the Jirania area before abandoning him.

Local residents assisted Kumar, immediately alerting the fire brigade, who transported him first to Jirania sub-divisional hospital. He was later shifted to GB Hospital for further treatment. Kumar’s statement was recorded at GB Hospital and relayed to Jirania police station, who have since launched an investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are determined to arrest those responsible for this brutal attack,” a police official stated. Authorities have yet to identify the suspects involved in the crime.
