Agartala, 9th October 2024:   In a scathing critique, former Chief Minister and Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to subvert the constitution. Sarkar’s comments came in the wake of the recent election results in Jammu and Kashmir, which he described as a “remarkable event” and a “victory for democracy.”

Speaking on the election results, Sarkar stated, “After 10 years, elections have finally been held in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP was confident of their victory, but the people have shown that they do not accept the BJP government. The BJP has altered the constitution and stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its full state status. The people have delivered a decisive verdict against the BJP.”

Sarkar emphasized the significance of the election outcome, calling it an “extraordinary event.” He remarked, “The people did not vote in favor of the BJP. The victory of the Indian alliance in Jammu and Kashmir is a victory for the entire country. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a resounding answer to the BJP’s conspiracy against the constitution and democracy.”

He further added, “This victory will inspire people across the nation.”

Commenting on the election results in Haryana, Sarkar noted that the Congress party has deemed the results unacceptable, alleging rigging of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). “The Congress has raised serious allegations of EVM rigging and cannot accept the results,” he said.

Sarkar’s statements reflect a broader discontent with the BJP’s policies and actions, particularly in regions with complex political landscapes like Jammu and Kashmir.
