Agartala, 11th June 2024: In a shocking revelation, extreme adulteration of drinking water was found at Belonia on Tuesday. Reports emerged of insects being found in bottles labeled “Fresh,” which are sold in every shop across the city. The company responsible for this water SS Enterprises is located in Bishalgarh.
The incident has raised widespread alarm among residents. A resident of Belresident recounted a disturbing experience: “Last Monday, I bought a bottle of drinking water from a local shop to serve to guests at my home. To my horror, I saw an insect moving inside the bottle when I was pouring the water. The label on the bottle claimed it was ‘Fresh,’ but the contents were anything but,” he said, visibly shaken.
The contaminated water bottles, marketed under the guise of purity, are being sold throughout the state of Tripura, including Belonia. The issue has become particularly concerning as these water bottles are commonly served at weddings and various social events. The trend of serving bottled water has become so ingrained in social customs that many feel outdated if they do not follow it. “People want to appear modern and often buy these bottles for social events or daily use because they are inexpensive,” another local resident commented.
The finding of adulteration has drawn criticism towards local authorities, who have been accused of negligence. “The administration is asleep. There is no supervision over the immoral activities of these companies,” an angry resident said. The lack of regulatory oversight has allowed these contaminated products to proliferate unchecked.
The incident has sparked demands for stringent action against SS Enterprises and the shops selling the tainted water. “We need immediate action against the company producing this hazardous water,” a concerned citizen demanded. “Shops must also be held accountable for not verifying the safety of the products they sell.”
The public now awaits the administration’s response to this alarming situation. The hope is that swift and decisive measures will be taken to ensure the safety of drinking water and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
