Agartala, December 09: A fire broke out in a godown adjacent to the Radhanagar petrol pump on Monday morning, narrowly averting a major disaster. The blaze engulfed the godown, destroying the building and its contents.
Locals reported the fire, prompting the immediate arrival of the godown manager and two fire engines. Despite their swift response, the flames had already intensified, reducing the goods to ashes. The fire was finally brought under control after a prolonged effort by the fire brigade.
“The origin of the fire is still unknown, but the damage is estimated to be over Rs 10 lakh,” said firefighter Ratan Shil. The incident has raised concerns about fire safety in the area.
