Agartala, October 27: The Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, distributed subsidized mustard oil to the consumers in Agartala on Friday, as part of the government’s initiative to provide quality cooking oil at affordable prices. The minister visited some fair price shops in the capital and handed over the mustard oil to the ration card holders and local consumers.
The minister said that the government has decided to supply mustard oil at subsidized prices through government fair price shops across the state, ahead of the Lakshmi Puja festival. He said that the consumers will get their rightful mustard oil at Rs 100 per litre, which is much lower than the market price.
He also slammed the opposition parties for spreading misinformation and creating confusion among the people about the availability and quality of the mustard oil. He said that the opposition parties are anti-development, politically bankrupt and negative minded, and are trying to mislead the simple people of the state.
He assured that the government is committed to protect the interests of the consumers and provide them with essential commodities at reasonable prices.
The event was attended by Nirmal Adhikari, Additional Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, Animesh Debbarma, Additional Director, dealers of the respective fair price shops and other officials.
