Agartala, 7th August 2024:  Forest workers recovered a large quantity of stolen timber and an unnumbered vehicle from the Kalkalia area last night. The market value of the seized timber is estimated to be approximately Rs 5 lakh, according to Sukanta Das, an official in the Forest department.

Das revealed that the operation was based on a tip-off from the Charilam Forest Department, which indicated that a substantial amount of illegal timber was being smuggled from the Gabardi area using unnumbered vehicles.

Acting on this information, forest personnel pursued the unnumbered vehicle for several kilometers at high speed. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle loaded with timber in a dense forest and fled the scene.

The Forest workers successfully recovered the timber and the vehicle, which have been brought to the forest department for further investigation.
