Agartala, 1st April 2025: Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced in the state assembly on April 1 that the formation of the 8th Pay Commission is being actively considered by the state government. A decision on the matter will be made at an appropriate time, he assured while responding to a query from Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy during the Question and Answer session.
The Finance Minister pointed out that the central government had proposed the establishment of the Eighth Pay Commission on January 16 this year. However, he noted that no state in India has yet made a final decision on the issue.
When asked about financial details submitted to the Sixteenth Finance Commission, Minister Singha Roy mentioned that the state had provided all necessary information and that the Commission had praised Tripura’s financial status. Addressing concerns about the disbursement of dearness allowance (DA), the Finance Minister confirmed that DA is being paid regularly to state government employees and pensioners. He further added that the government is working to bridge the gap between the DA rates for state and central government employees.
