Four-day workshop for journalists concludes at Agartala Press Club

Agartala, 3rd December 2024:   The much-needed and timely four-day workshop for journalists and photojournalists concluded at the Agartala Press Club on Tuesday. Spanning from November 30 to December 3, the workshop was a joint effort by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department and the Agartala Press Club. A total of 314 journalists and photojournalists from print, electronic, and web media participated.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on November 29, who also laid the foundation stone for the proposed lift at the Agartala Press Club. The inaugural ceremony featured notable attendees including Press Club of India President Gautam Lahiri, Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharya, and Secretary Ramakanta Dey, along with state board members and eminent journalists.

Present at the inaugural event were ICA Department Secretary Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary Kiran Gitte, and Director of ICA Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya. Training sessions were conducted by professionals such as Press Club of India President Gautam Lahiri, Kolkata journalists Sudipta Sengupta, Bopan Sahu, Bikash Das, Ayan Bhattacharya, and Guwahati’s Anirban Roy and Piyush Ranjan Bordali. Additionally, senior journalist Shekhar Datta, Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharya, Executive Editor Manas Pal, and journalists Sebak Bhattacharya, Bijoy Pal, and Angshuman Debbarma provided their expertise.

The Agartala Press Club Management Committee expressed gratitude for the collective cooperation that led to the workshop’s success. “We are committed to organizing such workshops annually to enhance the skills of journalists and photojournalists,” stated a committee member. The Information and Cultural Affairs Department, along with the Agartala Press Club, reaffirmed their dedication to continuing this educational endeavor in the future.
