Government Pensioners Association stages sit-in over 23 demands

Agartala, 7th February 2025:   The Tripura branch of the Government Pensioners Association organized a mass sit-in at Orient Chowmuhani here today highlighting 23 demands. The protest was held from 11 am to 1 pm, saw participation from pensioners and family pensioners across the state. Memorandums were submitted to the Chief Minister via the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and District Magistrate.

The association’s president Sanjay Kumar Basu and general secretary Badal Baidya emphasized that despite being senior citizens, they face significant deprivation and neglect, compelling them to protest despite physical and mental challenges. They revealed that repeated appeals to the government have gone unanswered, forcing them to take to the streets once again to demand attention and action.
