Agartala, 26th February 2026: The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. organized a district-level ‘Udyam Samagam’ under the Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) today at the Mukut Auditorium in Santirbazar.
Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended the event as chief guest. Prior to the program, the Governor was accorded a formal Guard of Honour by the South District police at Birchandra Manu. He also visited the pig farm under the Department of Animal Resources Development in Birchandra Manu, inspected its infrastructure, and held discussions with officials.
However, the Governor’s visit sparked controversy, with allegations of administrative non-cooperation against Officer-in-Charge Shubhankar Baidya, who oversees the pig farm.
At the Mukut Auditorium, the welcome address was delivered by Himadri Sekhar Nath. The program was attended by Additional District Magistrate Hafiz Uddin, Zilla Parishad’s Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, Additional SP Suman Majumder, and Municipal Chairperson Swapna Baidya, among other officials. Participants were briefed on government support schemes, procurement policies, and facilities available for small and medium enterprises.
Self-help groups also set up stalls showcasing locally made products. The Governor visited the stalls, interacted with members, and praised their entrepreneurial efforts.
Meanwhile, political discussions have emerged around the event. Local sources allege that Santirbazar MLA Pramod Reang and Tripura Industrial Development Corporation’s South District Chairman Suman Debnath were sidelined from the program.
Overall, while the entrepreneurship meet was marked by large-scale participation and official engagement, controversies surrounding the pig farm visit and political exclusions have drawn administrative attention.
