Agartala, 7th January 2026 : . The three-day Pilak Heritage and Tourism Festival 2025 commenced today at the premises of Jolaibari West Pilak Higher Secondary School under Santirbazar subdivision. Organized with the support of the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, Jolaibari RD Block and the festival committee, the event will run from January 7 to January 9.
The festival was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. The opening ceremony was attended by Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA of Jolaibari assembly constituency and Minister for Minority Development and PTG Department; Dipak Datta, Sabhadhipati of Dakshin Tripura Zilla Parishad; Tapas Datta, Chairman of Jolaibari Panchayat Samiti; Satyabrata Saha, Vice Chairman of Santirbazar Municipal Council; Muhammad Sajjad P., IAS, District Magistrate of South District; and Anupam Pal, official from the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, among others.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Nallu highlighted the cultural and social significance of the festival, describing it as “a unique platform of unity for local communities and tribal groups.” He emphasized that the annual event fosters togetherness and joy among participants.
Minister Shuklacharan Noatia echoed this sentiment, stating: “Where there is peace, there is joy. This festival strengthens unity and harmony among people. The prevailing peaceful environment in the state has allowed creativity and happiness to flourish, which is reflected in this celebration.”
As evening descended, large crowds from diverse tribal communities gathered at the venue, adding vibrancy to the festivities. Various government departments set up public-interest stalls, which were formally inaugurated by the guests.
The festival grounds resonated with enthusiasm and cultural pride, as the Pilak Heritage & Tourism Festival 2025 once again became a symbol of peace, unity, and celebration for the people of South Tripura.
