Agartala, 15th January 2026:   The Indian banking system stands out globally for its strength and credibility, said Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today.

Minister informed this while inaugurating a new ATM and automatic passbook printing facility of Tripura Gramin Bank at Sidhai Mohanpur Market.

He said that people are now modernizing and using ATM cards. People can withdraw money, and if they are Gramin Bank users, they can also deposit cash.

“Now I don’t have an account here, but I can withdraw cash using the ATM. This will also help in generating the current mini statement of the account. People can also print and update their bank passbook, and for that, it is not necessary to visit the bank. In our state, the banks not only accept deposits. State Bank of India has Rs 13,942 crore in deposits and has given Rs 6,207 crore as loans. Gramin Bank has 150 branches. They have deposits of Rs 10,193 crore and have given Rs 4,153 crore as loans to people. Now Gramin Bank has merged with the people, which is very important. Tripura has over 42 lakh people, and 31 lakh people have accounts in Gramin Bank,” he said.

The Agriculture Minister informed that in these seven years, economic development has increased, which is reflected in the growth of bank deposits.

“We have 10 lakh families in the state, and people have over 61 lakh accounts in different banks. The economic growth of the people has increased. This is a good sign. People must save their money for the upcoming generations. Keeping money in the bank is the safest place. The Indian banking system is far better than in other countries. It is strengthened and has a lot of credibility,” said the Minister.

During the event, Gramin Bank Chairman Satyendra Singh, General Manager Anup Kumar Saha, Marketing Head Jeet Bhattacharya, and others were present.
