Agartala, 28th June 2024: In a significant move aimed at addressing longstanding boundary issues, the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has adopted a proposal to constitute a high-level committee for the redefinition of its boundaries. The decision was made during a session held today, marking a crucial step towards resolving boundary disputes that have persisted since 1982.
The proposal, raised by Dhirendra Debbarma, received support from key members of the TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purnachandra Jamatia, Executive Member of the Education Department Rabindra Debbarma, Executive Member of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department Suhel Debbarma, Member Bimalkanti Chakma, and Member Hansa Kumar Tripura were instrumental in the adoption of the proposal. Since the establishment of the TTAADC in 1982, the demarcation of its boundaries has been a contentious issue. In many instances, villages that were initially part of the TTAADC areas were included in gram panchayats by 2010 without proper demarcation and approval processes. One of the core issues highlighted during the session is the unauthorized inclusion of several village committees into gram panchayats.
