Agartala, 22nd February 2024 :  In a groundbreaking achievement, the cardiology department of GB Hospital in Agartala has marked a historic milestone by successfully closing a heart hole through device closure, a procedure conducted for the first time in the hospital’s history.

Dr. Anind Sundar Trivedi, a prominent cardiologist and member of the cardiology department, announced this achievement during a press conference, highlighting the remarkable success of the medical team in advancing cardiac care.

Over the months of January and February 2024, the hospital has witnessed a significant surge in cardiac procedures, with more than 70 patients undergoing angiography and 30 to 35 patients receiving angioplasty. Additionally, 22 patients benefited from the installation of chest space makers, contributing to the enhancement of cardiac health services.

Notably, the medical team at GB Hospital successfully performed perifoal angioplasty in 4 patients. Furthermore, a month ago, a groundbreaking procedure was executed, closing a heart leakage through device closure, entirely avoiding the need for surgery.

Dr. Trivedi expressed his satisfaction with the achievements, emphasizing the dedication of the hospital’s medical staff in providing high-quality cardiac care. He also highlighted the introduction of new services in the cardiology department, including the provision of free space makers for Ayushman cardholders.

During the press conference, Dr. Rakesh Das, another accomplished cardiologist, and Dr. Anup Saha, the Principal of Agartala Government Medical College, were present, adding their insights and perspectives on the advancements in cardiac healthcare at GB Hospital.

This significant milestone reinforces GB Hospital’s commitment to innovation in healthcare, bringing cutting-edge cardiac procedures to the forefront and improving the lives of patients in the region.
