Agartala, 3rd June 2024: A tragedy took place on Monday morning when a dead body of a housewife was found hanging in her rented home at Shibnagar area. Local residents believe the woman identified as Payal Banik took her own life due to ongoing family disputes and suspicions of her husband’s disloyalty.
Upon receiving the distressing news, police swiftly arrived at the scene to recover the body and shifted it to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the unusual death.
Anik Banik, the deceased’s husband, recounted their turbulent history. “I eloped with Payal six years back. She was from Bishalgarh and we have been living in this rented house for the past year with our one-year-old son,” Anik explained. He mentioned that recent tensions had arisen between them due to suspicions of his alleged extramarital affair.
Anik, who spent the previous night at the hospital with his grandfather, found his wife’s body upon returning home early this morning. He immediately notified the police.
A local resident, who chose to remain anonymous, speculated on the cause of the tragedy. “It seems she committed suicide because of a family dispute,” he remarked. He also noted that Payal was originally from Bangladesh.
