Agartala, 19th March 2024: The Mechanical Engineering Department of the ICFAI University Tripura has introduced an industry-relevant course on “Hydraulic Systems and Applications”. It will be an integral part of the academic curriculum.
A group of industry professionals and well-known academicians attended an inauguration program to formally introduce the course on Monday. The course was inaugurated by Chief Guest Professor (Dr.) Madhusudan Chakraborty, former Professor and Deputy Director, IIT Kharagpur, and former founder Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, and currently Emeritus Professor of ICFAI University Tripura, resource person Er. Ambarish Chatterjee, Principal Consultant of FCP Index and Connections, Pune, and Dr. Raja Chakraborty, Professor of Tripura Institute of Technology and Chairman of Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination, as Guest of Honor.
Along with the dignitaries, Prof.(Dr.) A Ranganath, Registrar, and Dr. Priyangshu Rana Borthakur, Dean of the University, were also there on the dais. The dignitaries explained various aspects of learning hydraulic systems and applications with presentations and easy examples of hydraulic applications in different sectors of industries, including production industries.
It is a 30-hour course designed by industry experts. It will be taught by experts from the industry. Students will get hands-on training on “Hydraulic Systems and Applications.” They will be able to do live projects and internships in the relevant discipline and will get opportunities for placement in the relevant discipline in the industry.
The main objective of the course is to provide a holistic view of the usage of hydraulic systems in industrial components and applications aimed at high-performance motion and control technology in the industry.
Students will acquire knowledge about comprehensive understanding of hydraulic components and systems, which can be related to various applications used in different market segments such as the construction and infrastructure sector, heavy engineering, power hydraulic, power generation, mining, railways, defense, and automation industries.
It will also help to increase employability in these fast-moving industry segments. Once the participants have successfully completed the training and hands-on session with theoretical knowledge, they will be equipped with the abilities that are necessary for professional work and become ready for the industry. A certificate will be provided after the successful completion of the training program.
About 200 students from TTAADC Polytechnic Institute, Tripura Polytechnic Institute, CIPET Agartala, and ICFAI University Tripura participated in the training program. The program was coordinated by Dr. Prasanta Kumar Sinha, Principal of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the ICFAI University in Tripura.
