Illegal stock of liquors worth Rs 60k seized at Natunnagar

Agartala, December 11, 2022: Firmly initiating the government’s policy against anti-drug campaign, East and West Agartala police stations in Sadar sub-division have been continuously conducting raids in different parts of Agartala city and seizing huge haul of drugs and arresting accused persons.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, SDPO of Sadar sub-division Ajay Kumar Das said that the OC of West Agartala police station Jayanta Kumar Dey led an operation on Sunday at Natunnagar bazar here and seized huge quantity of foreign liquors and 60 litres of country-made liquors stocked illegally at the shop of Himangshu Bhowmik.

The OC of West Agartala police station was accompanied by second officer Krishnasadhan Jamatia and SI Jiban Das. During the raid, seven persons were arrested for illegally consumption of liquors, he added.

SDPO Das also said that the government has announced a policy of war against drugs. Hence, Sadar sub-divisional police administration is continuously working on it. They will be produced before the court tomorrow.

He warned those who are still in such illegal business and to leave such activities. Police will not spare anyone. However, the owner Himangshu managed to flee, but police will arrested him at the earliest, he also added.
