Agartala, 9th November 2024: The Jal Jeevan Mission aimed at providing drinking water to every household has completely failed in Ward No. 2 Khengra Bari area of Pathalia Ghat ADC Village, Jampujala subdivision. Sebabrata Debbarma, Head Clerk at the Sepahijala District Education Officer’s Office, expressed his concerns to the media on Saturday.
“The government is spending crores of rupees to bring drinking water to every household through the Jal Jeevan Mission. However, due to the inefficiency of certain bureaucrats and contractors, this mission is failing,” Debbarma said. He specifically pointed out that Swapan Debnath, a contractor from Udaipur, and an unnamed engineer are responsible for the project’s failure in Khengra Bari.
“It’s been two years since the connection was provided, but the villagers have not received a single drop of water,” Debbarma complained. He highlighted the government’s inaction and stressed the urgency of the situation. “The people of Jampui Jala area have faced many challenges. We have brought these issues to the attention of the government and the chief minister,” he added.
Debbarma’s statements highlighted the frustrations of the local community, who are desperate for access to clean drinking water. “We are raising this complaint in the interest of the village people and to ensure they get the drinking water they need,” Debbarma concluded.
The local population is now hoping for a swift resolution to the issues plaguing the Jal Jeevan Mission and an end to their long-standing water woes.
