Agartala: July 21. The Joint Movement Committee (JMC) today has raised objection against the permanent settlement of Brus in the Naisinghpara relief camp along with in five locations in the state.

In the letter to the Kanchanpur sub-divisional Magistrate, the organization said, “We would like to bring to your kind attention that, we have come to know from a reliable source that there has been intention by the government to settle 700-1000 families of Mizoram Bru migrants at their current camp in Naisingpara permanently. This updated plan grossly violates the settlement agreement, in terms of location”.

They also raised strong objection to settlement in Manu-Chailengta CCRF in Dhalai district, Ananda Bazar CCRF, Paschim Hmunpui, Behliangchhip and Nondiram in Kanchanpur sub-division of North district.

“…we the Joint Movement Committee had with the government following objections and protests during the last two years when the same settlement plan with overcrowded population was viewed to potentially cause demographic imbalance and upset the existing demographic equilibrium of the area. Therefore, we STRONGLY OBJECT to settlement of Mizoram Bru migrant families at Naisingpara and at other places mentioned above in bold letters”, the letter reads.
