Kailashahar residents protest irregular water supply

Agartala, 27th February 2026:   Residents of Ward No. 6 under Kailashahar Municipal Council are voicing strong resentment over the prolonged irregular supply of drinking water. Today, local residents submitted a memorandum to the divisional officer of the water supply department, demanding an immediate and permanent solution to the crisis.

Ward Councillor Mohit Lal Dhar, along with several residents, was present during the submission. Locals alleged that despite staging a three-hour road blockade on February 24 to protest the acute shortage, and subsequently withdrawing the agitation following assurances from the administration, no effective measures have been implemented even after 48 hours.

Currently, water is being supplied only twice a day for short durations, which residents say is grossly inadequate compared to their daily needs. Warning of intensified protests, the residents have declared that unless the issue is resolved promptly, they will launch a larger movement in the coming days.
