Agartala, 28th July 2025: Violence erupted at Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailashahar this afternoon following a heated clash between two student groups allegedly incited by outsiders. The incident has left the college premises tense and has drawn strong reactions from student representatives and locals alike.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of individuals from outside the college entered the premises and engaged in provocative behavior targeting first-semester students and those from other departments. The sudden escalation led to verbal altercations, which quickly turned into physical confrontations.
Soon after the disturbance broke out, a large contingent of police personnel from Kailashahar police station along with Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans arrived at the scene. Their intervention brought partial control to the situation, though tension remains high on campus.
Dipanjan Bhattacharjee, president of the Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) expressed concern over the recurring issues. “For the past few days, some outsiders have been regularly entering the college premises and spoiling the environment. Students are being treated indecently. We have informed the college authorities several times, but no effective action has been taken. Today’s incident is the result of that,” he said.
He further urged the administration to act decisively, adding, “We want a healthy learning environment to be maintained in the college. The administration should take strict action against those who are repeatedly spoiling the environment.”
Despite the growing concerns, college authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the matter. In the meantime, police and TSR forces have been deployed for regular patrolling to prevent any further escalation.
