According to local resident Shyamal Sarkar, “While our case is still pending in court, we’ve been living under the shadow of threats. They’ve tried to bulldoze their way through our land, and now, they’ve even tried to burn us alive.” The incident he refers to occurred last Saturday night when an unidentified individual reportedly attempted to set fire to the Sarkars’ living room. The family’s timely intervention prevented a tragedy.

The aggrieved couple Papia Das Sarkar and Shyamal Sarkar have since approached the Santirbazar police station seeking justice. “We demand a thorough investigation and the harshest punishment for those who have tried to intimidate us,” stated Papia Das Sarkar. The complaint names Pradip Majumder, Raju Majumder, and Kaushik Chowdhury as the primary suspects.
