Land dispute turns violent at Kamalpur: Four injured in neighbor’s fence construction

Agartala, May 20: A land dispute in the Bharpara area of Baligaon Panchayat escalated into violence, leaving four individuals injured. The incident unfolded as residents of the area, including Ramratan Pashi, his wife Sumati Pashi, and brother Ramyatan Pashi, were engaged in fencing their land early this morning.

However, tensions flared when their neighbor, Harimahan Ghasi, and his son, Laxman Ghasi, intervened to prevent the construction of the fence. Verbal altercations ensued, leading to a physical confrontation. Harimohan Ghasi, Laxman, and other family members attacked the Pashi family, resulting in serious injuries.

The injured parties, including Lakshnia Pashi, a female relative, were promptly transported to BSM Hospital for medical attention. Three of the seriously injured victims were subsequently referred to Dhalai District Hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities swiftly responded to the scene, launching an investigation into the incident. The land dispute has caused significant unrest in the area, with residents closely following developments as tensions remain high.
