Agartala, 12th October 2025 : The Tripura Left Front on today launched a scathing attack on the state government over the deteriorating law and order situation, alleged administrative bias, and growing threats to democratic rights in the state.
At a press conference held at the Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan, the CPI(M) state headquarters in Melarmath, Left Front Convener and former minister Manik Dey was joined by RSP state secretary Dipak Deb, CPI state secretary Milan Baidya, Forward Bloc leader Paresh Sarkar, and former minister Naresh Jamatia.
Speaking to reporters, Manik Dey said that he faced obstruction while on his way to attend a wedding ceremony in Jirania. “Due to the negligence of the local administration, the safety of common people has become a major concern. I was forced to return without attending the event,” Dey said.
He added that despite attempting to contact the local MLA and minister from the constituency, no response was received.
Dey alleged that the incident reflects the alarming decline of law and order across the state.
The Left leaders also strongly criticized what they described as administrative bias and the partisan role of the ruling party.
Former minister Naresh Jamatia made a sharp remark regarding the State Election Commission (SEC), alleging that “the Commission has lost its neutrality and is now functioning in favour of the ruling party.”
The Left Front leaders further accused the government of halting MGNREGA and TUEP (Tripura Urban Employment Programme) works just before the Durga Puja festival, saying this has caused “severe hardship for poor and working-class people.”
“The BJP is engaging in communal and divisive politics, while certain Bengali organizations are also holding provocative programmes that threaten social harmony,” said Manik Dey. “The unity of all communities and indigenous groups in Tripura is under deliberate attack.”
Dey reiterated that the Left Front stands firmly for unity, peace, and democratic coexistence, and warned that the ongoing attempts to divide society pose a “serious danger” to the state’s future.
Concluding the press meet, the Left Front leaders urged the state government and administration to take immediate steps to ensure peace, protect law and order, and safeguard democratic rights in Tripura.
