Agartala, 9th October 2025 : A group of agitated residents from the NC Nagar area met with SDPO Shashimohan Debbarma today demanding the immediate arrest of all accused in the murder of 22-year-old Suleman Hossain, who was allegedly killed over a gold smuggling dispute nearly a month back.
While the prime accused Ruksana Begum has already been taken into custody, police have yet to arrest the remaining seven individuals named in the case. This delay has sparked outrage among locals, who staged a protest and warned authorities of a larger agitation if arrests are not made within the next seven days.
SDPO Debbarma assured the protesters that the investigation is progressing swiftly and that the remaining suspects will be arrested soon. NC Nagar Panchayat member Akhtar Hossain echoed the sentiment, stating that while residents are currently pacified by the administration’s assurances, they will not hesitate to escalate their movement if concrete action is not taken within the promised timeframe.
