Agartala, 26th May 2024:  Despite 26 days having passed since the tragic murder of Bharat Ratna Sangha club secretary Durga Prasanna Deb, alias Vicky, the police have yet to apprehend the prime suspect, Raju Burman.

Protesting this today, the local residents organized a silent procession to demand exemplary punishment for those responsible for the crime.

The procession, which began in front of the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club, saw participation from numerous local residents as well as members of the club, including its current secretary, Chandan Chakraborty. The silent march was a somber reminder of the community’s call for justice and their solidarity in the face of tragedy.

Chandan Chakraborty, speaking on behalf of the club, expressed confidence in the police administration’s ability to resolve the case. He acknowledged the community’s frustration with the slow progress but remained hopeful that the perpetrators would be brought to justice soon. “The law will follow the law, and the police will do their work,” he stated.

Furthermore, Chakraborty addressed the public’s demand for the expulsion of Raju Burman from both the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club and the area. He revealed that a petition is currently underway to remove Burman, reflecting the community’s strong stance against harboring individuals involved in such heinous crimes.

The silent procession served as a powerful display of the community’s unity and their unwavering demand for justice for Durga Prasanna Deb.
