Agartala, 9th October 2025 : Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury today condemned the ruling BJP for allegedly attacking the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) office in Agartala and harassing party leaders at MBB Airport.
Chaudhury, who is also the CPI(M) state committee secretary, described the incident as a “clear sign of autocracy” and “a dark chapter in Tripura’s political history.” He alleged that since 2018, the BJP has repeatedly targeted opposition party offices, often using bulldozers, and claimed such attacks have become a frequent occurrence.
“During Durga Puja, five party offices were reportedly vandalized, including one in Agartala. Just two days ago, the TMC office was attacked in front of the Tripura Police,” he said, adding that similar incidents have also occurred in West Bengal.
Chaudhury further alleged that when TMC leaders visited Tripura to inspect the damaged office, their vehicle was blocked by BJP supporters at the airport, delaying their movement. “The government was responsible for their security, but what we witnessed was shameful. Later, they were provided with a vehicle,” he said.
While condemning incidents of violence in West Bengal, Chaudhury emphasized that the harassment of TMC leaders in Tripura was unacceptable and called it an “autocratic act.”
