Agartala, 21st December 2024: The Madhupur police station staff and the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel achieved a major success last night. Acting on a secret tip-off, they raided the house of Rajesh Laskar in the Radhanagar border area of Kamalasagar assembly constituency and recovered 300 Yaba tablets and 15 kg of dry marijuana.
The operation involved BSF jawans from the Kamalasagar BSF camp and police personnel from Madhupur police station led to the arrest of Rajesh Laskar. He was subsequently brought to Madhupur police station. However, the police do not have an NDPS case against him.
According to family and local sources, some smugglers from the area allegedly trapped Laskar by planting the Yaba tablets and dry marijuana in his house. It is claimed that Laskar was never involved in such activities. His house is located near Gate number 116, through which illegal goods worth lakhs of rupees are smuggled into Bangladesh daily. Laskar and his family had reportedly objected to the illegal trade passing by their house, leading to frequent raids by the BSF.
The family alleges that the smugglers, angered by Laskar’s objections, planted the drugs in his house to frame him. “During the raid, the police and BSF did not find anything initially. It was only after they left that someone placed the drugs in an abandoned house nearby,” a family member stated. “When we informed the police about the abandoned house, they recovered the drugs and arrested Rajesh.”
The family is now demanding a thorough investigation from the administration. “Our son was never involved in these activities. If the police conduct a proper investigation, the real truth will come out,” they claim.
