Agartala, 1st February 2025 : A major fire was narrowly averted this morning at the Metro Bazar shopping mall in the capital’s Shakuntala Road area, as quick action by firefighters prevented a potential disaster.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place when employees of the shopping mall noticed smoke billowing out from an air conditioning unit. Panic spread among the staff and customers as thick smoke filled parts of the building.
The fire department was immediately informed, and within moments, two fire engines arrived at the scene. Firefighters acted swiftly and managed to bring the situation under control before the flames could spread to nearby shops and establishments.
Officials from the fire department have stated that the fire is suspected to have originated from the AC unit. However, no casualties or major damages have been reported, thanks to the timely response.
Local authorities have urged business owners to ensure regular maintenance of electrical appliances to prevent such incidents in the future. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
