Agartala, 25th March 2026:  A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday around 12 noon in the Baluchhara area under Isabpur Gram Panchayat, Ward No. 5, of Gournagar RD Block in Kailashahar subdivision of Unakoti district.

According to local sources, the fire is suspected to have originated from a short circuit in the house of Sajatul Islam. Within moments, the flames rapidly spread to nearby houses, engulfing a total of six rooms belonging to three families. The fire intensified quickly, leaving no time for residents to save their belongings.

All household items, important documents, and essential possessions were completely destroyed in the blaze. The affected families were seen in distress, breaking down as they lost their homes and valuables in the sudden disaster.

Residents estimate the total loss to be between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh. A local youth, Ansar Ali, stated that the narrow roads in the area delayed the arrival of the fire brigade. By the time firefighters reached the spot, most of the houses had already been reduced to ashes.

The fire department later managed to bring the situation under control, but not before significant damage had occurred. The affected families have appealed to the administration for financial assistance and rehabilitation support. They have also sought help from various social organizations.

The incident has created panic in the locality, with residents demanding immediate relief measures and proper rehabilitation for those affected.
