Agartala, 15th October 2025: West Agartala Police Station staff has arrested Jalil Mia of Rajnagar following serious allegations of identity fraud and unlawful confinement. The arrest came in response to a written complaint filed on August 15 by Kamalika Das, a transgender woman, who accused Mia of deceiving her under a false identity and subjecting her to physical and mental abuse.
According to the complaint, Mia allegedly introduced himself as “Sujit Das” and developed a relationship with Kamalika Das, promising marriage. He later took her to his residence, where she found his true identity and realized she had been misled.
Das further stated that when she attempted to leave, Mia forcibly confined her in his home for three days, during which she endured physical and psychological abuse. She eventually managed to escape and was hospitalized for several days before filing the police complaint.
Acting on the complaint, police initially detained Mia’s father and subsequently arrested Jalil Mia after conducting a search operation.
Speaking to reporters here, SDPO Debaprasad Roy of the Sadar subdivision confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under charges of fraud, illegal confinement, and identity concealment. He added that the investigation is ongoing and appropriate legal action will follow.
