Agartala, 7th February 2025: Food, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has voiced profound concern over the ongoing violence and turmoil in Bangladesh. He lamented the recent incidents of murder, terrorism, and the bulldozing of the building in Dhanmondi that commemorates Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In a poignant message on social media on Friday, Minister Chowdhury wrote, “Bangladesh is still on fire, justice is exiled, humanity is bloody.” His words reflect the gravity of the situation and the distress it has caused.
Minister Chowdhury recalled the words of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, stating, “Put my name next to the name of the rapist’s father; and write the address as house number 32, Dhanmondi.” He lamented, “This house has been destroyed by the anti-civilizationists. Today, in that Bangladesh, protest means shooting, speaking the truth means death penalty!”
Expressing regret, Chowdhury remarked, “Bangladesh once fought for freedom, but today the dream of freedom is disappearing there. If you speak out against injustice, you have to go missing, if you seek justice, you have to be tortured. The persecution of Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian minorities continues. Temples are destroyed, religious festivals are attacked, yet why is the world silent?”
Minister Chowdhury’s emotional plea highlighted the ongoing violence and human rights violations in Bangladesh. “Blood is being shed every day in that country, the cries of innocent people are being heard. What is the role of the head of state of that country? How long will this atrocity destroy humanity?” he questioned, addressing the interim government of Bangladesh, including the chief advisor.
He concluded his message with a heartfelt appeal, urging the world to awaken its conscience and take action to end the darkness engulfing Bangladesh. “His heartfelt plea is that the world conscience should awaken to erase this darkness,” he stated.
