Agartala, 14th February 2026: A 14-year-old missing girl has been rescued by Monpathar Police in Birchandranagar. The girl, originally from Udaipur’s Matabari area, had gone missing on February 12, 2026.
Police sources informed that a young man allegedly lured the girl away with the promise of marriage. The accused hails from Kamranga Bari under Melaghar Police Station. Despite extensive searches by the family, the girl could not be traced, prompting her father to lodge a written complaint at R.K. Pur Police Station in Udaipur.
Upon receiving the complaint, Udaipur Police OC Sanjib Laskar alerted police stations and outposts across the state. Acting on this, Monpathar OC Jayanta Das launched a search operation using local intelligence, confidential inputs, and technical support.
Investigations revealed that the accused and the minor were hiding in a house in Birchandranagar under Santirbazar subdivision. Police later rescued the girl from a forested area near Birchandranagar Boys’ Hostel.
Authorities confirmed that the rescue operation was carried out swiftly to ensure the girl’s safety. After completing necessary legal procedures, she was handed over to her family.
Police officials have stated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in luring minors. The girl’s family expressed relief and gratitude for the timely intervention of OC Jayanta Das and his team.
