Agartala, 9th  February 2026 :  After remaining missing for nearly a month in Nagaland, the body of young blogger Pranab Das was brought back to his residence on Monday, plunging the Malaynagar Nepali Para area under Srinagar police station into deep mourning.

Pranab Das had travelled to the Dzükou Valley in Kohima district on January 4. He was last seen the same day at the Dzükou ticket counter in Viswema village. Following the trip, all communication with his family was lost. With no information about his whereabouts, the family lodged a missing person complaint on January 13.

Subsequently, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched in and around the Dzükou Valley. The joint operation involved Nagaland Police along with volunteers from several youth organizations, including the Southern Angami Youth Organization and the Southern Dzükou Guide Council.

On February 6, at around 4 pm, Pranab Das’s body was recovered from a riverbank near the helipad area of Dzükou Valley. Owing to the extremely cold weather conditions, no visible signs of decomposition were found on the body. Later that night, the body was shifted to the Dzükou base camp and formally handed over to the authorities after completing all legal procedures.

After administrative formalities, the mortal remains were brought to his home today. Scenes of grief took place as family members, relatives, and local residents broke down upon the arrival of the body. The entire locality was enveloped in sorrow, while many people also expressed their condolences on social media.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The family and local residents have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy. Meanwhile, police and administrative authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
