North East Leaders Unveil Plan for Unified Regional Political Front

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 4th November 2025: In a landmark political development, key leaders from across India’s North East have jointly announced an initiative to form a *“united singular political entity”—a move they describe as a “collective and historic” effort to present a unified regional voice on the national stage.

The announcement, made through a joint statement titled “ONE NORTH EAST”, marks a rare moment of cross-party consensus among prominent figures representing different states and political backgrounds.

Among the signatories are Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya and National President of the National People’s Party (NPP); Pradyot Bikram Manikya, Founder of the TIPRA Motha Party; Mmhonlumo Kikon, former BJP National Spokesperson and Minister in the Nagaland government; and Daniel Langthasa, Founder of the People’s Party, Assam.

Issued from New Delhi, the statement describes the signatories as “the younger generation leaders of the North East,” united by the belief that their “strength lies in unity.”

“For too long, we have spoken about the same issues and concerns of our people, but from different platforms and political spaces,” the leaders said. “We have realised that it is time to give our people one collective voice.”

They emphasized that the people of the North East “deserve to be heard, respected, and represented through a strong, unified, and indigenous political voice at the national level.”

The leaders described this announcement as only the “first step” toward building the new entity. A committee will soon be formed to deliberate on the practical aspects, including the “modalities and structure” of the proposed formation.  Drawing inspiration from the “vision and legacy of great leaders who fought selflessly” for the region, the leaders concluded with a joint pledge:

“Together, we stand committed to building a stronger, more united North East.”*
