Agartala, 17th December 2025: A tragic bike accident claimed the life of a youth and left two school students critically injured in the Dhanpur Assembly constituency on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Taijjamura (Baganbari) area under Bara Narayan in Dhanpur, where two motorcycles collided head-on.
The deceased has been identified as Diptanu Debnath, who died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
Three others were injured in the accident, including two school students. One of the injured has been identified as Nakul Sarkar, son of Ashik Sarkar, while the identity of another injured person is yet to be ascertained.
Upon receiving information, Dhanpur MLA Bindu Debnath rushed to the Dhanpur Primary Health Centre. After providing first aid, the injured were immediately shifted to Melaghar Sub-Divisional Hospital. Later, the two critically injured school students were referred from Melaghar to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
The incident has triggered widespread panic and concern in the locality.The accident has once again highlighted the growing menace of reckless bike riding by underage youths, both on bypass roads and rural routes. High-speed riding not only endangers the lives of the riders themselves but also poses a serious threat to pedestrians and other road users. Traffic rules are often blatantly ignored, and there appears to be a lack of strict monitoring and enforcement by the authorities.
Residents and various sections of society have demanded immediate and stringent action against reckless riding to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
