Agartala, 24th June 2024 : The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) announced the final voter list for the upcoming Panchayat Polls on Monday, revealing a total of 12,94,060 registered voters. The election date is expected to be disclosed by the first week of July.
Tripura State Election Commissioner Saradindu Chowdhury informed the press that the current Panchayat term concludes in the first week of August. The SEC is prepared for the elections following the release of the final voter list.
“The final voter list for the Panchayat Polls was published today. It includes a total of 12,94,060 voters, comprising 6,58,589 males, 6,35,460 females, and 11 individuals in other categories,” he said. Chowdhury further mentioned that the commission had invited claims and objections regarding the voter list.
“We received 2,056 claims across various blocks, 2,837 objections, and one correction request. After addressing these concerns, the final voter list has been published. We are nearly ready for the Panchayat poll and aim to conduct it at a suitable time. Meetings with the Director General (DG) and Chief Secretary (CS) regarding law and order, as well as consultations with all political parties, are scheduled. We anticipate announcing the election date by the first week of July,” he stated.
