Agartala, November 22, 2022: A girl student of class XII residing in Uttar Kenania area under Kamalasagar assembly constituency has chosen to commit suicide after consuming pesticides on November 19 last and succumbed at GBP hospital on Tuesday. The girl’s name is Uma Chowdhury and her father’s name is Amrit Chowdhury.

Reportedly, some labourers came to work in the land of Amrit Chowdhury in Uttar Kenania area. But after those workers came, Amrit Chowdhury’s wife angrily told her husband that they do not have to work in the land on November 19 last. Tell the workers to come another day. But Amrit Chowdhury refused to accept it, saying that since the workers have come to work, it is better if the work is done. But his wife somehow refuses to agree. Finally, the husband and wife quarrelled in the house.

Meanwhile, their daughter Uma Chowdhury came forward and tried to pacify her parents. But in no way could the parents’ quarrel be tolerated. At one time, Uma Chowdhury’s mother could not reduce the quarrel with her husband and slapped her daughter Uma Chowdhury several times in anger. In a moment, Uma Chowdhury could not stop that anger. There was a poisonous drug in the window next to the courtyard of the house. She immediately took the drug and ate it in rage. But parents could not save the end even when they ran behind.

She was immediately brought to the primary health centre at Madhupur. As her situation worsen, she was referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala city. She had been fighting with death for three days and finally succumbed on Tuesday afternoon. After the body was brought home, the entire area fell into mourning.

Notably, Uma Chowdhury was a very talented student in Devipur Class XII School. The school teachers and students are deeply saddened by her death.
