Agartala, 8th March 2026:   Despite tight security arrangements during the visit of the country’s Vice President to Udaipur, a patient-carrying vehicle was reportedly stopped for an extended period, causing public outrage. The incident occurred on Sunday near the Bypass Road adjacent to Vishalgarh Motor Stand.

According to reports, on Sunday, the Vice President visited the Mata Tripurasundari Temple in Udaipur, prompting authorities to tighten security along the national highway from Agartala to Udaipur. To ensure the smooth passage of the Vice President’s convoy, traffic on the highway was temporarily halted.

However, amidst these security measures, a vehicle carrying a critically ill patient was reportedly stopped in the Vishalgarh area. The patient, suffering from a brain hemorrhage, was being transported from Shalgara in Udaipur to Agartala for urgent medical treatment. Upon reaching the bypass road near Vishalgarh Motor Stand, the vehicle was halted by security personnel.

As a result, the critically ill patient had to wait at the location for over half an hour, according to complaints. When journalists on the scene asked a TSR jawan about the delay, he explained that orders had come from higher authorities that no vehicles were allowed to move while the Vice President’s convoy was passing.

A relative of the patient strongly protested the incident, stating that emergency vehicles should not be stopped for VIP convoys. They expressed concern that such delays could increase the risk to the patient’s life.

The incident has sparked anger among local residents. Many have questioned whether standard protocols, which typically prioritize emergency vehicles such as ambulances or fire trucks even during VIP movements, were properly followed.

The administration has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, but the episode has already raised several questions among the public.
