Agartala, 17th April 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing critique of the former Congress government’s neglect of Tripura and the Northeast region, labeling their approach as the “Loot East” policy.
Speaking at a vibrant election campaign in Agartala, where he rallied support for BJP candidates such as Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Singh Debbarma, PM Modi emphasized the imperative of voting for Tripura’s development in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“Your vote on 19th and 26th April is crucial. Every ballot cast for BJP-NDA strengthens Modi ki Guarantee,” he urged the audience.
PM Modi lambasted the previous CPIM and Congress administrations for fostering corruption in Tripura, asserting that the leftist parties, though seemingly adversaries, shared a common ideology. Highlighting his government’s commitment to Northeast development, Modi underscored his extensive visits to the region, exceeding 50 trips in a decade.
“For Tripura, BJP embodies the politics of progress,” Modi asserted, unveiling the HIRA+ Model aimed at holistic development. He contrasted this with the Congress’s “Loot East” strategy, which his administration replaced with the proactive “Act East” policy. Initiatives such as extending Ayushman Bharat Yojana benefits to seniors and advancing infrastructure under the HIRA Model – focusing on Highway, Internetway, Railway, and Airways – were outlined as hallmarks of BJP’s agenda for Tripura’s advancement.
PM Modi further announced plans to construct 3 crore new houses nationwide, with Tripura expected to reap substantial benefits. His government’s endeavors to bolster connectivity in the Northeast, provide free gas connections to over 3 lakh women, and establish Eklavya Model Schools for tribal children were also highlighted as evidence of their commitment to inclusive development.
