Pradesh Mahila Morcha celebrates Handloom Day in Tripura

Agartala, 7th August 2024:  Handloom Day was observed across the country on Wednesday. A special program was organized by the Pradesh Mahila Morcha at Booth No. 12 of Dighalia Gram Panchayat. The event saw the presence of Pradesh Mahila Morcha President Mimi Majumdar and other dignitaries.

In her address, Mimi Majumdar highlighted that since 2015, August 7 has been celebrated as Handicrafts Day. She noted that the date holds historical significance, marking the Swadeshi movement of 1905.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 7 as Handicrafts Day to promote indigenous thinking and products. Majumdar emphasized the importance of respecting weavers, stating, “It is everyone’s duty to honor the weavers.” The Mahila Morcha also felicitated the weavers during the event.
