Pradesh Youth Congress Slams State Government Over Job Claims

Agartala, 24th May 2025:  The Pradesh Youth Congress has launched a scathing attack on the state government, accusing it of misleading the public with inflated and inconsistent job creation figures. Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan today, Pradesh Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha alleged that unemployment in Tripura is reaching alarming levels, while the government continues to paint a misleading picture.

Saha specifically criticized Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and several cabinet ministers for repeatedly shifting figures related to job creation. “At times they claim 13,000 jobs have been created, sometimes 16,000, and now they say 19,000 jobs have been generated. This flip-flop only confuses and misguides the unemployed youth,” he said.

The Youth Congress leader accused the government of deliberately withholding crucial information, including the actual number of vacant posts in various departments. He demanded that the government come clean and publish accurate data.

Saha also expressed deep concern over the rise in drug abuse among the youth, attributing it to the lack of employment opportunities. In a serious allegation, he claimed that drug peddlers in the state have links to leaders of the ruling party.

Criticizing the government’s inclusion of outsourcing and ‘die harness’ jobs in its employment statistics, Saha said, “These cannot be counted as sustainable government employment. The state government must stop misleading the people and instead focus on real, long-term solutions.”

The Pradesh Youth Congress has called for greater transparency and a more committed approach towards addressing the unemployment crisis in Tripura.
