Agartala, 5th February 2025: Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, former supremo of Tiprasa today issued a stern warning regarding the protection of Tiprasa’s identity, language, culture and future. He emphasized, “If the basic ideological demands for the protection of Tiprasa’s identity, language, culture and future are not met, we will not hesitate to break the alliance and leave.”
Debbarman reminded party workers that their involvement in politics is to serve the people. He stated, “The power that the party workers are enjoying today is the blessing of the people. The people who voted for us, if the workers do not come forward to help them despite being in power, then there is no point.”
Reflecting on the progress made since the signing of the Tiprasa Accord a year ago, Debbarman expressed impatience with the delay in fulfilling their demands. “We cannot wait indefinitely. The party has not raised any illegal demands with the central government. We have sought protection of our culture, land, and identity. We want the right to education, as is the case in Meghalaya,” he said.
Addressing his workers, Debbarman advised them to be prepared for tough decisions. “We all have to be mentally prepared to take the right decision at the right time. If our promises are not fulfilled, we will consider taking that difficult decision,” he asserted.
Expressing concerns about political instability in neighboring Bangladesh, Debbarman questioned, “Bangladesh and Pakistan are coming closer. Will militancy return?” He highlighted the disparity in responses to peaceful demands versus violent actions. “Today, when we peacefully demand our rights, we are not being taken seriously. But today, when someone explodes a bomb, their behavior is taken very seriously,” he remarked.
Despite these challenges, Debbarman remains hopeful that their issues will be resolved, stating, “Our problems will be resolved soon. We still have that hope and faith in the central government.”
