Agartala, 26th May 2025: Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Monday directed the party’s MLAs, Members of District Councils (MDCs), and grassroots workers to actively identify illegal immigrants residing in Tripura and allegedly availing government benefits through forged documents.
In a Facebook post, Pradyot cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Supreme Court of India, stating that both have clearly maintained that illegal immigrants have no right to stay in India.
“I have been raising this issue for the past ten years. I even filed a case in the Supreme Court regarding the NRC (National Register of Citizens). Our stance has always been consistent. While Bangladesh is currently spreading venomous propaganda against India, the indigenous people of Tripura foresaw this threat years ago,” he wrote.
He further claimed that not only Rohingya refugees but also a large number of Bangladeshi nationals are entering Tripura, acquiring Voter ID cards and Ration Cards, and could influence the outcome of the 2028 Assembly elections.
“They are illegally becoming voters and may soon decide who becomes the MLA, MP, or even the Chief Minister. We don’t want that,” Pradyot asserted. He said he has instructed all Tipra Motha MLAs, MDCs, and party workers to engage with District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, and Block Development Officers to identify individuals illegally obtaining Ration Cards, Aadhaar Cards, and other official documents.
“The moment they become voters, they will have the power to decide our future. This is not a time for internal fights—this is a time for unity. We must stand together to stop the influx of illegal immigrants. They have no right to stay here. We must ensure that only genuine Indian citizens receive government benefits,” he added.
