Agartala, 28th August 2024: A crucial review meeting was convened on Wednesday at the conference hall of the Gomati District Magistrate’s Office to address the aftermath of the recent floods. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy chaired the meeting emphasizing the government’s commitment to assisting flood-affected communities.
During the meeting, Minister Roy stated, “Our priority is to stand by the flood victims. We must compile a comprehensive list of those impacted by the floods.” He directed officials from various departments, including public works, water supply, electricity, agriculture, and fisheries, to ensure timely delivery of government aid to those in need.
The Chief Medical Officer of Gomati District received specific instructions to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases. Minister Roy also emphasized the importance of closely monitoring operational relief camps. “No shortage of food or clean water should occur,” he asserted.
Additionally, administrative officials were urged to expedite the drainage of water from Dakbungalow Road. The meeting highlighted the need for swift action to mitigate further damage.
The meeting was attended by MLA Abhishek Debroy, Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Shital Chandra Majumder, Gomati District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak and officials from various departments.
The Additional District Magistrate of Gomati District, Binay Bhushan Das, presented an assessment of the flood-related losses during the meeting.
