Agartala, 2nd March 2026: The Government of Tripura is set to commence its Budget Session for the financial year 2026–27 on March 13, 2026, as announced by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
In preparation for the session, a series of high-level meetings were convened at the State Secretariat involving Cabinet Ministers and senior officials. The discussions focused on finalising the proposed income and expenditure framework for the upcoming fiscal year, with emphasis on strategic and need-based allocations.
The Finance Minister held a detailed review meeting with Minister of State for General Administration (Printing & Stationery), Science, Technology & Environment, Animesh Debbarma, to assess departmental proposals and prioritise fund distribution.
Separate consultations were conducted with Tribal Welfare and Minority Welfare Minister Sukla Charan Noatia. The discussions centred on development programmes, key priority sectors, and effective implementation strategies. Particular attention was given to the Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and the Budget Estimates for 2026–27 to ensure continued momentum in welfare initiatives.
Further deliberations were held with Higher Education, Panchayat and General Administration (Political) Minister Kishor Barman regarding departmental expenditure planning and optimal resource allocation.
Finance Minister Singha Roy also met with Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Affairs & Social Education and Labour Minister Tinku Roy to review sector-specific funding requirements and development objectives.
In another key meeting, discussions were conducted with Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture and Statistics Minister Bikash Debbarma, focusing on financial planning and allocation strategies for the respective departments.
Additionally, a comprehensive review session took place with Transport, Tourism, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. The meeting involved detailed examination of proposed income and expenditure statements, including the Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and Budget Estimates for 2026–27.
The series of consultations aims to ensure a structured, transparent, and development-oriented Budget, with targeted allocations across key sectors to strengthen public welfare and accelerate growth in Tripura during the 2026–27 financial year.
