Agartala, March 04, 2023: Ram Prasad Paul, the newly elected MLA for the second consecutive term from Suryamaninagar assembly constituency on Saturday accused the previous ruling parties for developing the culture of violence ahead of elections and after announcement of results.

Being asked about the tradition of violence taking place in different parts of the state, Paul told reporters that the culture of staging attacks is the strings of previous ruling parties. However, such culture of violence has been diminished in last five years to about 90 percent and rest will be wiped away in next few years, he added.

Speaking about decrease in votes’ percentage by 13 percent and number of 9 seats, Paul said “Election is like tides. Electorates exercise their franchise depending on the situation. Before 2018, people thought of giving an opportunity to BJP for five years. An unsatisfied section found that this support towards saffron camp has incurred loss while another section found profit. Hence, we have to work out in the coming five years to fill up the gap.”
