Agartala, 28th October 2024: The poor condition of Anganwadi Kendras under the Social Welfare and Social Education Department has once again come to light, this time from Tel Kajla area. Local residents have expressed growing concern over the state of the Anganwadi Kendra at Tel Kajla Gram Panchayat Para.
The Anganwadi Kendra has reportedly been suffering from numerous issues for a prolonged period, issues that have seemingly been ignored by the State Social Welfare and Social Education Department. The center is rarely open as per official timings, causing significant inconvenience to the community.
“The Anganwadi Kendra is almost always closed during official hours,” stated a frustrated resident. Further investigations revealed alarming conditions inside the center. Anganwadi worker Malina Nath Majumdar allegedly opens the center at her discretion, disregarding the official schedule.
In a shocking revelation, it was found that the rice used for preparing khichuri for the children is stored in a bowl infested with rats. ” Nath Majumdar seems oblivious to the rat infestation in the rice bowl,” said a concerned parent. Reports suggest that the worker has been cooking and serving this contaminated rice to the children, with little regard for their health and safety. Moreover, the rice is often spoiled, yet it is still being fed to the students.
Parents in the area are rightfully alarmed, fearing for their children’s health. “Our children are being fed khichuri with rice that is almost always spoiled. They are at risk of falling ill,” one parent lamented. These concerns have led to calls for immediate intervention.
The local residents demand that the Social Welfare and Social Education Department take swift action to address the issues plaguing the Anganwadi Kendra. “It is imperative that the department pays attention to this center and resolves these problems urgently,” stressed a local leader.
