Agartala, 20th August 2025: In a step towards modernizing education, the Rotary Club of Agartala City today inaugurated a Smart Class Project at Benimadhab Vidyapith School in Katasheula, Jogendranagar. The initiative, supported by the Rotary Foundation, aims to make learning more interactive and engaging for students.
Students welcomed the new facility with enthusiasm, expressing hope that it would improve their learning experience. Members of the Rotary Club said the project was designed to raise the overall standard of education in the school.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Achintya Bhattacharjee recalled Rotary’s global role in eradicating polio and noted, “This smart class initiative will make teaching and learning far easier.” Other dignitaries present included Dr. Nihar Ranjan Das, Dr. Sanjoy Kundu, and Dr. Ananya Das.
Asish Sen, addressing the gathering, remarked that Rotary’s mission closely aligns with the work of the United Nations. He also encouraged students to form an Interact Club to involve themselves in social service from an early age.
Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary International today operates nearly 35,000 clubs across 200 countries with 1.4 million members. The organization focuses on peace-building, disease prevention, education, clean water, maternal and child health, economic growth, and environmental protection.
Tripura currently has seven Rotary Clubs, including four in Agartala, which remain actively engaged in community service throughout the year.
