Agartala, 1st March 2025 : Santirbazar police have seized two trucks illegally transporting cattle. This operation was launched following intelligence reports about frequent illegal cattle smuggling through the town by unscrupulous traders.
During routine vehicle checks, police officers noticed two cattle-laden trucks speeding. The officers pursued and managed to intercept the trucks near the Santirbazar Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, with the help of local residents.
Inspector-in-Charge Ashutosh Sharma reported that a total of 22 cattle were seized from the two trucks bearing registration numbers TR03L-1518 and TR03L-1598. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the purpose of the illegal transport.
There are allegations that two cattle smugglers from the Lougang area of Santirbazar sub-division are regularly involved in these activities. The residents have raised concerns about their involvement in cattle smuggling. Inspector Sharma emphasized the need for public awareness to combat such smuggling activities effectively.
The residents of Santirbazar sub-division have praised the ongoing efforts of the police to prevent cattle smuggling, and Inspector Sharma assured that such operations will continue.
